Joyful Ballroom Dance Instructor Erin Croft

I was exposed to partner dancing at a pretty young age. My two older brothers got into swing dancing in high school. They wanted to learn and practice all the different and fun lifts they saw others doing, so of course, they practiced on me! When I was in high school I followed in their footsteps and learned how to lindy hop. I was hooked from that point on. I have been in performance groups with lindy hop, ballroom and salsa. I have also competed in lindy, blues and salsa dancing. Most recently my partner and I placed 1st in a local salsa/bachata competition.

After being a serious, amateur lindy hop and blues dancer for about 8 years, I realized that I wanted to share my passion for dancing with others.  In June of 2011 I was hired at a franchise ballroom dance school. I went through a rigorous training process and am now certified in all of the major ballroom dances. I can teach anything from elegant, beautiful dances such as Waltz, to spicy, latin dances such as Cha Cha, all the way to fun, upbeat dances like Swing. Also, in the last 3 years I have become a very serious salsa dancer. My fiancé, who has been dancing salsa for over 15 years, and I teach salsa and bachata, as well.

I trained and worked for the franchise ballroom dance school for a year and a half and went on to work for a local studio for just under 6 months before they had to shut down because the owner fell ill. I was devastated by this news. Although I didn’t know at the time, this opened up the door for me to start my own business. I have been on my own for the last 3 years teaching at the Joyful Ballroom. I love making learning how to dance fun and exciting. I enjoy seeing my students grow and feel accomplished. Dancing is my passion and I love sharing the wonderful world of dance with others.
